One of the biggest problems faced by American genealogists is tracing their families back to their home country/ies well enought taht they can focus on a particular area, find records there and avoid researching the wrong family. Fortunately, there are many sources in the US that can be explored before attempting to make the big jump overseas and Paul will describe those.
